The Grand Deception

The Truth About Grand Design RV: What They Don't Want You to Know

Website Under Construction and more information coming soon!

Grand Design. Grand Deception.

I purchased a brand new 2023 Grand Design Solitude 378MBS with the hope of traveling the country in comfort, reliability, and safety. Instead, I got a rig riddled with dangerous defects, botched inspections, and a company that would rather cover up issues than take responsibility.

From structural failures to warranty nightmares, this website is dedicated to exposing the truth behind the shiny brochures — and giving you, the consumer, the real story Grand Design doesn’t want you to hear.

What Went Wrong?

  • Frame Flex and Possible Cracked Welds
My fifth wheel began showing signs of serious frame instability within the first year — including visible flexing, hidden stress cracks, and lag bolts installed incorrectly from the factory.

  • Roof Detached at Highway Speed
The entire roof membrane tore loose while driving — a catastrophic failure that could’ve injured or killed someone. Grand Design tried to blame me until I forced accountability.

  • Technical Service Bulletin Ignored – Twice
Grand Design’s own TSB 24-001 requires removal of the front Philon to inspect the welds. I requested this inspection twice. Both times, technicians refused to complete it. One was even told by his “big boss” not to look too deep — unless the flexing was “bad enough.”

  • Lag Bolts: Wrong Size. Missing Bolts. Loose Connections.
Grand Design used 3/8" lag bolts instead of 1/2", and failed to fill all the required holes. This isn’t just poor craftsmanship — it’s gross negligence.

Their Lies. My Receipts

“We followed procedure.”
False. Their own technician admitted on record that they weren’t allowed to do the full inspection.

“This is normal wear and tear.”

False. Structural flex, roof detachment, and ripped bedroom door frames are not “normal.”

“We stand behind our product.”

False. They stood behind deflection, denial, and delay — not me.

Considering a Grand Design?

This brand markets itself on luxury, quality, and trust. But if you peel back the layers - literally - you'll see what's really going on underneath.

Don't let a polished floorplan fool you. I made the mistake so you don't have to.
